Rosa Lee Mullins Ellison
Virginia Beach - A Rose by any other name is not as sweet. On Wednesday, February 20, the Good Lord brought Rosa Lee, 76, home to be with Him.
Born in Kentucky, she moved to VA where she met and fell in love with Lowell. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband Lowell of 56 years, daughters Hope Ellison, Faith Ellison McMillin (husband Bruce, granddaughters Marissa and Hannah), and Renee McGrath (husband Brian); her sister Dora Gibson (husband Tom, nephews Todd Mullins and Kenny Prater); her niece Gail Bratten Stanley (husband Stan); nephews Kevin and Wayne Bratten and their families; other family and friends.
Rosa Lee was an extraordinary woman and embraced all who came into her life. She was affectionately known to many as Aunt Rose. She helped to build the family business Falcon Construction, was a Kentucky Colonel, and was involved in many organizations such as the Fabulous Marching Cavaliers, FOPA#8, Rebekah Lodge, and Ladies Auxiliary for Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 392, and was nicknamed the "Finest Lady in Bingo" for her many contributions for organizing Bingo games for multiple organizations. She was an amazing cook and took pride in the large garden she helped to cultivate.
We will always love and cherish you every day, our Sweet Rose, Red Hot Momma. Kisses from us up to you in Heaven.
Rosa Lee did not want a public memorial service, so per her wishes, the family is holding a private celebration of Rosa Lee's life; however, the family created an online memorial for her family and friends at:
