Verlie M. Fincham

Verlie M. Fincham
Chesapeake - Verlie "Judy" Fincham, 88, passed away Sept. 11, 2013. She was predeceased by her husband Louis, 2 daughters Patricia Sue and Betty Jean and 11 brothers & sisters. She is survived by her 3 sons Luther, Louis Jr. & Jerry, 2 daughters-in-law, 2 sons-in-law, 7 grandchildren, 2 grandsons-in-law, 1 granddaughter-in-law, 3 great-granddaughters & several pooches that adored her. Judy was a vivacious woman that at times could get so rowdy with her grandchildren. She also had the fastest "smack you with a slipper" of the south. If there was an award for that, her walls would be covered just from keeping all the grandchildren in line. She had a fantastic sense of humor and everything she made in the kitchen was magic. Although she will be missed deeply, we are happy to say she is finally with her two daughters and her brothers & sisters in heaven.
Judy began working as a sales person at a 5 & 10 while in high school. This lead to over 70 years of helping customers in department stores that included WT Grant, Thalhimers, Hecht's and Macy's.
The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel. The funeral service will be Saturday at 12:15 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with burial following at Forest lawn cemetery. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com
