Wilson Ayers

Wilson E. Ayers NORFOLK - Wilson E. Ayers passed peacefully Sept. 27, 2011. Mr. Ayers was a native of Norfolk and a graduate of Maury High School's veterans' classes. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and Korea. He serviced business machines for more than 25 years, and he worked at a number of part-time jobs thereafter. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Norfolk. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet H. Ayers. Survivors include his son, Kenneth W. Ayers; daughter, Hilve Firek and husband Bob; and cousins, Helen West, Nancy Blake, and Mildred Winslow. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at the funeral home chapel.
