James White Obituary

James M. White SUFFOLK - James Maurice White, 83, of the 5000 block of Mineral Springs Road, died Friday, June 18, 2010, in a local hospital. A native of Ahoskie, N.C., he was a retired production controller for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member and elder emeritus of West Side Christian Church, a member and past master of Western Branch Masonic Lodge No. 189, and a member of VFW Post 9382. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, Barbara J. White, preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter, Daisy Joy White and a son, Dennis Roger White, both of Suffolk; two sisters, Ruth Lambeth of Murfreesboro, N.C., and Catherine Fordhan of Chesapeake; two grandchildren, Jennifer Karen Davis and Jeffery James White; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, in West Side Christian Church by the Rev. Kenneth Bryant. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. www.SturtevantFuneral Home.com.
