Janice Dyer Obituary

Janice Dyer Curtis ELIZABETH CITY - Janice Dyer Curtis, 58, of Willow Way, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010. Born Dec. 16, 1951 in Danville, Va., she was the daughter of Herman C. Dyer and the late Josie W. Dyer. Janice grew up in Chesapeake and attended Churchland and Western Branch High Schools; before moving to Elizabeth City, where she was the organist for several area churches. Janice held an associate degree in music from College of the Albemarle and a bachelor's degree in psychology from East Carolina State University. In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Ronald Curtis; her sister, Emily Dyer Mountcastle and husband the Rev. Drew Mountcastle of Costa Mesa, Calif. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, in Calvary Chapel, 2012 N. Road St., Elizabeth City, NC 27909, by Pastor Nick Kahl. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 11, in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk, by the Rev. Tom Potter. There is no set viewing or visitation times. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling these arrangements. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Benevolence Fund of Calvary Chapel.
