Morris McLeod Obituary

Morris T. McLeod CHESAPEAKE - Morris T. McLeod, 60, of the 900 block of New Mill Drive was called home to be with the Lord on Sept. 22, 2010. On June 20, 1950, in McCain, N.C., God saw fit to bless the late Morris E. McLeod and Lula Pearl McLeod with a beautiful baby boy. He was raised with a strong and loving hand of God. At the age of seven his family relocated to Brooklyn, N.Y., and eventually migrated to Queens, N.Y., where he attended John Adams High School in South Ozone Park. He was a star football player. He attended Nassau Community College and majored in physical education, and transferred to UCONN, which prepared him for his future in working with the I.R.S. holding several prominent positions. After 34 years Morris retired as a revenue officer, admired and respected by many. Morris was predeceased by his father, Morris E. McLeod and his sister, Lola McLeod. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Jeryl; daughter, Cheyne; and mother, Lula Pearl McLeod. He also leaves siblings, Margaret Gibson (James), Deborah Sherrod, Deidre McLeod- Morris (David), Lowell McLeod (Robyn), a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, godchildren, friends, and all of his "adopted" children. He will be greatly missed. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Mount Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church, Bells Mill Road, Chesapeake. Interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. We invite you to send a condolence message in the family's guestbook at www.pretlowandsons.com.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Morris was a wonderful person. I knew him from the Norfolk Federal Building. Many times we walked in together in the morning having conversations about the Lord, his wife and his health. What a pleasure to have known him. My prayers are with his family and friends in the coming days. May you find peace and strength in the Lord.

To Jeryl and Cheyne:Be assured that God can and will give you the strength needed. He will wipe away your tears that may endure for a night but-joy will come in the morning. Keep the memories of your loved one, in your heart as you prepare to see him again. My prayers are with you and the family.Sister Connie Gillison-soprano,Pleasant Grove Bapt.
