Robert J. Tripician
Virginia Beach - - Robert (Bob) J. Tripician, 86, passed away August 20, 2012. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Francis Tripician and Mary Markley Tripician and by three sisters, Josephine Anne Levernier, Catherine Jean Connor and Mary Irene Watson. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Grigg Tripician; his son, Peter H. Tripician; daughter, Elizabeth T. Davis and husband Sperry D. Davis; two granddaughters, Emily Elizabeth Davis and Jennifer Anne Davis.
Bob served in the Navy during World War II. In March 1949 he was hired as Field Engineer by the Philco Corp. and was assigned to a contact with the Navy Department. In this capacity he spent three years overseas on assignments that included visits to 17 different countries. During his career with Philco, he held positions as Field Engineer, Senior Field Engineer and Senior Systems Engineer. In 1964 he left Philco to accept employment with Civil Service in a Navy Department in
Norfolk, VA. During his career with the Navy Department, he was required to travel often in the U.S. with a few trips overseas. He reached the position of Supervisory Electronics Engineer.
After his retirement, he became active in Veteran Affairs and was a charter member of American Legion Post 110 of Virginia Beach. He was Post Commander of Post 110 on three different occasions and was Post Chaplain for a number of years. He also was Chaplain of Second District of the American Legion for 5 years. He was also involved in the Society of Forty and Eight, the honor society of the American Legion. He served as Commander of Voiture 86 based in
Norfolk, VA and was State Chaplain of the Forty and Eight.
In 1978 he became a member of Old Donation Episcopal Church. He was active in the church as Vestryman, a former Senior Warden, a Trustee, Layreader, Chalicer and Intersessor.
He also was author of three novels entitled "A New Heaven and A New Earth", "Where Ignorant Armies Clash" and "On a Darkling Plain". Bob held positions as follows: Chairman of the Hampton Roads section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, President of Cape Henry Bird Club, and was Chaplain of the Norfolk Chapter of Sons of The American Revolution.
Bob's family wishes to thank the staff at Bay Lake Retirement and Assisted Living Community and Hospice for all the love and care given to him. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, is in charge of funeral arrangements. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2012 in Old Donation Episcopal Church, 4449 Witchduck Rd,
Virginia Beach, VA with The Reverend Robert J. Randall officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Old Donation Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.
