Bob Jaronczyk Obituary

Robert John Jaronczyk WILLIAMSBURG - Robert John "Bob" Jaronczyk, 63, passed away Oct. 9, 2010 in his home. He was born July 18, 1947 to Henry and the late Lillian Jaronczyk in Portsmouth. He is survived by his father, Henry; his wife of 29 years, Ellen; sons, Morgan Hobbs (Lesley) of Fredericksburg, Va., and Forrest Hobbs (Kara) of Seattle; sisters, Sharon Jaronczyk of Virginia Beach and Patricia Rose (Buddy) of Decatur, Ala.; and grandchildren, Alexandra, Blake, Andrew and Matthew. Bob graduated from Maury High School and East Carolina University. He was an outstanding teacher and coach at Churchland High School in Portsmouth until 1979. He positively influenced the lives of many young people both in the classroom and on the field. Bob recently retired from Jostens as director of sales of the Ring Division. He was honored with the prestigious Legends Award for his 28 years of exemplary service to the company. As a young boy, Bob attended the Colonial Boys Club in Norfolk everyday, where he acquired skills and values that he used throughout his life. During his high school and college years, Bob played multiple sports and attended college on an athletic scholarship. Later in life, he was an avid golfer and found great joy playing the game whenever possible. He was immensely proud to have made six holes-in-one. Bob will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his dedication to his work and his loyalty to his friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. Bob had a kind and gentle spirit and a heart almost as big as the man himself. A memorial service will be held in Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, Saturday Oct. 16, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America at www.bgca.org. Sharon,

You might not remember me, we were classmates at Maury 1970. I got to meet your brother when he came back to Elizabeth Manor Golf Club several years ago, and became a regular member of our weekend golf group. He was one of my favorite people, always upbeat and laughing, even as our golf games struggled. He will be truly missed, you and your family are in our prayers.

I am overwhelmed with sadness in hearing of Bobby's passing. I have never known anyone who loved life more or who was more generous with his love and support. He was truly a "giant among men." He will missed but his spirit will continue to guide so many who benefited from his encouragement. My heart and prayers are with his family and friends...and that would be pretty much anyone who knew him!

Bobby was more than a great friend but a mentor and brother. A shoulder to lean on and person with great insight and direction. No one will ever know all the great things he has done for us all but most of all having touched our lives in the most positive way. Thanks for all the friendship, leadership and guidence you gave. We will all miss you! God Bless Ellen and the whole family!

I was deeply saddened to learn of Bob's untimely passing. What an amazing athlete and terrific person he was. Bob and I would chat about Commodore football on the family front porch while I hung around trying to catch up with his little sis Patsy. God bless Bob and his whole family. He will be missed!

Bob was a wonderful classmate at Maury High School. It is no surprise that he touched the lives of so many students at Churchland High. His love of life, ever smiling and full of joy will always be remembered. May the memories of Bob that each of us hold dear warm our hearts at this sad time.
My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family.

I am stunned at this news. I have not seen Bob in many, many years but had hoped to connect when I visited Norfolk. Bob was 2 years ahead of me at Maury so we only played football together one year. However, we spent a lot of time together after he graduated and then after I graduated from Maury in 1967. Much of this time was in the summers. Bob was just a wonderful person to be around. He was funny, friendly to everyone, and open to all kinds of experiences. It does not surprise me that he was an excellent salesman. I could tell lots of stories...but then I'm sure all of his friends could do the same. I deeply regret not seeing him again.
To his family I wish you the best. We were all fortunate to have known him.

I will alway remember and will miss his wonderful smile when he attended our meetings. We will keep you in our hearts and prayers, God Bless you all.

My deepest & most sincere condolences are given to the entire family of this wonderful man. Coach Jaro, as he told us all to call him, since he was most sure that no one would be able to pronounce his name, was my absolute favorite Teacher at Churchland High School, making every single day such a joy to be in his History Class('75)! He always made me smile & laugh no matter what he said or did! I was so lucky to have had the chance to experience such a joyful human being as he obviously was to anyone and everyone that had the good fortune of knowing him. I am so very sorry to learn of his passing, & will miss him tremendously. Life will truly be at a great loss without our special "Coach". My thoughts & prayers are with all of his family. Know that Heaven is certainly a much more joyous place with the presence of our "Coach Jaro".
