Florence Walner

Florence B. Walner VIRGINIA BEACH - Florence Brenner Walner was born in Philadelphia Aug. 19, 1904 to Jessie and Harry Brenner and was one of five girls and four boys. She was predeceased by her sisters, Esther, Sarah, Nettie and Re and her brothers, Ben, William, Ted and Moe. Her family will mourn her death. They include her daughter and son-in-law, Libbie and Albert Kaplan and their son Jay Allan Kaplan. She was predeceased by her loved and loving granddaughter, Janis Lynn Kaplan. She also leaves her son, Allan Bernstein and his children Michael and Sharon and Sherry Lynn and their families. When Florence married Aaron Salzberg, she became a loving member of his family. She was devoted to Joyce and Leon of blessed memory and Gail and Charles of blessed memory and to Norman. She became Nana to their children, who were loving and attentive. She will be missed by her sister-in-law, Jeanette Brenner who was married to William Brenner of blessed memory. On April 22, 2010 Florence experienced the thrill of a lifetime. She attended a class lecture in literature at Virginia Wesleyan College. She said it was a dream of a lifetime come true. She made a lasting impression on the entire population of Virginia Wesleyan College. Florence Walner was a member of Congregation Beth El, a lifetime member of Hadassah and of Hebrew Ladies Charity. The family extends their appreciation to the staff at The Home at Beth Sholom Village and Heartland Hospice for the kind and excellent care offered to Florence. A graveside funeral will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Sunday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m. by Rabbi Arthur Ruberg and Cantor Elihu Flax.
