Herman Blumenthal Obituary

Herman Blumenthal CHESAPEAKE - Herman "Hy" Blumenthal passed away Oct. 14, 2010. He was born in Norfolk on Aug. 10, 1927 and was the son of the late Morris and Bertha Blumenthal. Hy was predeceased by brothers, Adolph and Myer Blumenthal and sister Fannie Terkeltaub. He had been in the construction field most of his life. He retired from the Housing and Redevelopment Department of Virginia Beach. He was loving and devoted to all his family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley, and his children, Sandra and David Falkenstein, Barbara and Stanley Bloom of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Laurie Jo Gendron of Michigan, Jill and Jeremy Levin of Maryland; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Mylie Levin, and sister Sara Zedd of Norfolk. Graveside services will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Friday at noon. Rabbi Arthur Ruberg, Cantor Gordon Piltch and Cantor Jacob Tessler will officiate. Shiva will be held at his home in Chesapeake. In lieu of flowers, donate to a charity of your choice. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.

Dear Shirley, Sandra and Barbara,
I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of your dear Husband and Father. I've been away from Hampton Roads for quite some time, but I remember him well. Please accept my sincere condolences and sympathy. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
