Ruby Minetree Obituary

Ruby Peters Minetree NORFOLK - Ruby Peters Minetree, 82, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 19, 2010 following a short illness. She was born and raised in Norfolk and spent the majority of her life there working, retiring as vice president and treasurer of Minetree Optical, raising her family, and enjoying the company of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Ruby Peters and Wesley Mack Peters Jr.; sisters, Betty Jane Evans and Mary Peters Lott; and brothers, George Peters and Wesley "Buddy" Peters. Left to cherish her memory is her faithful husband of 62 years, Ed; her sons and their wives, Joe and Judy and Ron and Linda; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also cherished her friendships with her sisters- in-law, Margie Minetree and Flo Peters, and brother-in-law Jack Lott, as well as many long devoted friends. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 24, at Christ United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dr. Dan Abbott. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 1601 E. Bayview Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23503. The family will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. for a visitation with friends. H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
