George Cooper Obituary
Virginia Beach - George Cooper, 87, of the 2500 Block of Tree Garden Way of Virginia Beach, passed away December 28, 2013. He was born in Enfield, N.C. on November 27, 1926 to the late Charlie Cooper and Louise Cooper Coker. He graduated from Brooklyn Automotive High School. He retired in 1980 after 30 years as a Superintendent for the New York City Housing Authority. He was a member of First Church of Christ Holiness, USA where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the Men's Chorus.
He was predeceased by his two sisters Rosa Lee Clark and Carmela Ashe and a brother Sherman Cooper. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Marie Fields; daughter Linda Cooper; son Keith Cooper; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby Street, Norfolk, Va. Elder Walter Godfrey, officiating. A wake service will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com
