Linda Jones Obituary

Linda Anne Jones
Virginia Beach - Linda Anne Jones was called to glory on Sunday, June 2, 2013. She was the first child born to George & Anne Jones of Coventry, CT on September 21st, 1954, and her legendary determination for independence became apparent almost as soon as she learned to talk. In 2007, doctors gave her the sad news she had only a few months left to live. That was nearly 6 years ago, and the medical community received an education on the fortitude of a focused, determined individual.
In 1974, at the age of 19, she married Roger Fink, despite pleas from family members that they were both "just too young". What everyone didn't know at the time, was that Roger & Linda were on a mission. It was their job to produce two of the finest children ever made.
As a birthday trip, Linda visited Virginia Beach for the first time with her brother George in September of 1984, and fell instantly in love with it. The family vacationed there for many summers following, and we all came to know it as "OUR" vacation spot, where some of the happiest times were spent, but never to the extent that Linda really connected with it. As life tends to evolve in ways we can neither predict nor explain, after 21 years of marriage, Linda & Roger divorced in 1995. Linda followed her heart & her dreams, and moved to Virginia Beach. It was 'her little piece of heaven', and her love affair with it continued for the remainder of her time on earth.
She leaves to cherish her spirit, her 2 proudest accomplishments in life, Stefanie Riccardo & her husband Rich of Clinton, CT, and Jeffrey Fink of Old Saybrook, CT. Her little Westie "Scout" remained her vigilant guardian to the very end. Her brother George & his wife Melissa reside in Bloomfield, CT, and her youngest brother Bob & his wife Brenda, reside in Coventry, CT. Also remaining in Connecticut are cherished assorted relatives & friends. Despite her connections to New England, she always spoke endearingly of, and will be missed tenderly by, her adopted family, friends, & neighbors, her fellow residents of Virginia Beach, Virginia. You were all, in each of your own unique ways, truly instrumental in her decision to remain amongst you.
Donations in Linda's memory can be made to Westie Rescue USA, P.O. Box 342, Dunn Loring, VA 22027.
Per Linda's wishes, a memorial luncheon will be held at Lynnhaven Fish House in Virginia Beach this summer. Cremation Society of Virginia is handling the cremation.

Linda was a very good and neighbor to us. We always helped her by taking "Scout" for her walks when she wasn't able to. Our family will miss her very much.

Linda was a beloved friend and neighbor of ours for 12 years. We shared many happy moments together living in our riverside community. She was very inspirational to those around her. Her memory lives on in the beautiful flower beds that she created through out the neighborhood. She was inseparable from her loving Westie, Scout. This is not good bye, it's just see you later. Until we again my friend. Oceans of love.

I remember Linda coming out of her home and asking me how I was doing when I came to visit a neighbor . I will miss seeing her and the work she did with the flower beds .
