Albert Likens Obituary

Albert Lee Likens VIRGINIA BEACH - Albert Lee "Pete" Likens, 86, slipped quietly and peacefully into the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 8, 2010. He was born in Radford, Va. He was the son of William McKinley and Bessie May Syder Likens. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Infantry 45th Division and was a POW of World War II and was a member of the VFW, Post No. 157. He worked construction and retired from Polynesian Pools. He was an avid fan of both the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Yankees. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Ann DeHart "Dot" Likens and his children Albert Lee Likens II and his wife Debbie of Commerce, Ga., Kathi Likens Driscoll and her husband Jim of Virginia Beach and Mark Dee Likens and his wife Joyce of Newport News; his grandchildren, Sarah Jones, Michael Likens, Heather Scott, Becki Grimes, Kristi Croft, Terry Croft II, Samantha Likens, Ashley Likens and Haleigh Likens; and his 10 great-grandchildren. A chapel service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday April 12, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. Burial will follow at Princess Anne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Donations may be made to the Heart Fund (American Heart Association) or a favorite charity.
