Albert Padilla

Albert Padilla PORTSMOUTH - Albert Padilla, 66, died May 20, 2010, following a long and courageous battle with progressive supranuclear palsy. Born in Pomona, Calif., he served in the U.S. Navy. He retired after a career in civil service. He was a hardworking man and a natural born craftsman. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He was a kind man, always caring, smiling, loving and giving. He was loved by all who were privileged to know him and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margaret Weeks Padilla; his children, Susan Padilla Whitehurst and husband Kevin, Raymond Padilla and Allen Padilla; grandchildren, Wesley, Walker, and Whitney Whitehurst, and Isabelle and Raymond Padilla; his mother, stepmother, five sisters, and two brothers. Also left to cherish his memory are a host of other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his father, stepfather and one brother. A funeral to celebrate his life will be held Monday, May 24, at 11 a.m. at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Disabled American Veterans Unit 22, 4648 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth VA 23701. A special thank you to the staff at the VA Hospital in Hampton for the excellent care he received over the course of his illness.
