Alice Edwards Obituary

Alice P. Edwards PORTSMOUTH - Alice Patillo Edwards, 92, of the 2700 block of Moton St., died April 1, 2010, in her residence. Born in Norfolk County, she retired after 32 years as a teacher with Suffolk Public Schools and was affiliated with several organizations within Third Baptist Church, Portsmouth, where she was a member for 30 years. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Calvin W. Edwards Sr.; one son, Calvin W. Edwards Jr. (Diana) of Woodbridge, Va.; three grandchildren, Alandus, Alex and Edwards; other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at noon Thursday in Third Baptist Church, Portsmouth, with the Rev. Joe B. Fleming presiding. Burial will be held in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. Viewing will begin today at noon. The family will be in the residence. The body will be in the church Thursday at 11 a.m. Fisher Funeral Home, 1520 Effingham St., is in charge. www.fisherfuneral.com.
