Andrew Farrington Obituary

Andrew P. Farrington VIRGINIA BEACH - Andrew Paul Farrington, 82, passed away Sept. 18, 2010 in his home. A native of Jefferson, N.C., he was the son of the late James W. and Willie V. Farrington and the widower of MargaretMary Farrington. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief dental technician. He worked in the private sector for 19 years before retiring at age 65. He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, the Men's Club at St. Gregory's and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 9056. He was a Naval veteran of Korea and Vietnam and a member of the F.A.B.S. Golf Club. Andy loved fishing and playing golf. He was an excellent card player. Growing up on a farm, he had a great love of the land and enjoyed planting great tasting tomatoes in his garden. He loved picking seasonal produce with his family, especially his daughter-in-law, Judy. Andy never met a stranger. He was a loving person who loved the company of his family and friends. The family wishes a special "thank you" to Arvin and Peggy Swanger, Mary Noble, Nurse Kyra, Nurse Cheryl, Sentara Hospice and Sentara Bayside Hospital. He is survived by his daughter, Andrea Ragan and husband Rob of Wall, N.J.; two sons, Jamie W. Farrington and wife Judy of Virginia Beach and George T. Farrington and his fiancée Barbara Aube of Virginia Beach; an adopted daughter, Sandra Parker and husband Al of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, Rachel, Hannah, Robert, Mary and Meg; three great-grandchildren, Destiney, Taylor and Joel; and his four-legged grandkids, Phoenix and Chewey. He was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters and a grandson, Todd Vidal. A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church with Fr. Mario Fulgenzi, O.S.B. officiating. The family will receive friends at Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cemetery in Exeter, Pa. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or the D.A.V. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com

My wife & I bowled & played golf with
Andy & MM & enjoyed the times we spent
together. Great couple & lots of fun.
They will be missed by all who knew
them. Andy is now back with MM & i"m
sure the heavens are much brighter now.
Our deepest condolences to the family.
