Anne Parker Carr SUFFOLK - Anne Parker Carr, 90, passed away Jan. 2, 2011 at home. She was the daughter of the late Jesse Piland and Charles Thomas Parker. She was the widow of James A. Carr Jr. She was an active member of Holy Neck Christian Church. She was previously a member of Holland Baptist Church where she was a member of the Board of Deacons, choir member, WMU member, and church building committee. She was a graduate of Holland High School and the Norfolk School of Business. She was secretary and treasurer of the Holland Peanut Company, Secretary of Ad Products Co., and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 28 years, retiring as the Holland Station manager in 1983. She was predeceased by her first husband, Truitt Umphlett and brother, George D. Parker. Her memories live on with her son, James Thomas Carr and her daughter and son-in-law, LuAnne and Bryan LaPoint of Suffolk; four grandchildren, James Lewis LaPoint and wife, Jennifer, John Arthur Carr, Matthew Bryan LaPoint and Ashley Nicole LaPoint; sister, Dora Parker Horton of Suffolk; brothers, John Newman Parker of Colonial Heights, Va., and William Jesse Parker of Tazwell, Va.; nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Anne DeKlever. A funeral will be held Thursday, Jan. 6, at 2 p.m. in Parr Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. Reggie Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of LuAnne LaPoint.
