Avis Alexander-Boughes CHESAPEAKE - Avis Denise Alexander Boughes, 51, passed away peacefully Nov. 7, 2010. A native of Durham, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Emma Alexander. A graduate of Hillside High School, she continued her studies at Columbia School of Arts in Chicago and later at North Carolina Central University majoring in business. As an entrepreneur in broadcast and communications, she worked as a dance instructor in video and audio productions. She also worked with the Parks and Recreation Department and as a teacher's aide. She is survived by her loving husband, Frederick H. Boughes; four children, Yaseem, Amatullah, Aasiyah and Yusuf Abdul-Malik; a sister, Ingrid Alexander; and a host of relatives and friends. Hurt by the loss of her brother Henry early in life, she was yet to be denied a successful spirit. She will be loved and missed always.
