Bernice P. King
Norfolk - Bernice P. King (Bernie) was peacefully sung into glory on July 10, 2013. She was born on August 1, 1924 to the late Edward James & Mary Virginia Parker of Baltimore, MD. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 60 years, Dr. John Winston King; daughters: Cheryl McIntosh, Wanda King, & Dr. Patricia King; grandchildren: Phillip McIntosh (Aimee), Lyndsey McIntosh, Kenneth King, John-Harrison King, Eric Jones, II, Lauren Jones & Brennan Jones; great grandchildren: D. Ryley McIntosh, Sahmara McIntosh, Cory Crocker, Kristian King-Daley, Mia McIntosh; niece Sheila B. Holley (Calvin); great niece Nicole Megginson (Jerome) & great nephew Randall Holley.
Bernice arrived in Norfolk, VA after marrying her husband John in 1953. She gave birth to her daughters, Cheryl, Wanda & Pat in rapid succession ("the stair steps"). Bernice was a "stay-at-home" mom until her last daughter left for college. She began her career as Asst. Voter Registrar with the City of Norfolk at the age of 54, retiring after 20 years of dedicated service.
Bernice was a very vocal and active member of the Norfolk Chapter Epicureans and The Krazy Katz. She loved dancing, socializing with friends and family, traveling and shopping.
The family will be receiving guests at the family homestead. Services will be held at Graves Funeral Home, 1631 Church St, Norfolk, VA as follows:
Wake: Monday, July 15 from 5 until 7 and Funeral, Tuesday, July 16th at 11 a.m. Interment (immediately following the service) at Rosewood Memorial Park

To the King family I just learned of Mrs.King passing yesterday at Dee-Gee's. I will truly miss the way she would have the whole shop in hysterical stitches. My god the angels will never be the same....R.I.P. Mrs. King.
