Catalina Malpaya Obituary

Catalina Mejia Malpaya NORFOLK - Catalina Mejia Malpaya, 74, passed away April 14, 2010. Mrs. Malpaya was born in the Philippines Dec. 18, 1935, a daughter of Maria Idos and Victor Mejia. She was a member of Holy Angels Church in Portsmouth and St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Virginia Beach. Survivors are her husband, Teofilo D. Malpaya; daughters, Dolores M. Malpaya, Susan M. Canave, Maria Teresita M. Hernandez, Marites M. Morales; sons, Francisco M. Malpaya, Ferdinand M. Malpaya, Joseph M. Malpaya, and Joel M. Malpaya; a sister, Romana Landingin; brothers, Eduardo Mejia, Delfin Mejia, and Jimmy Mejia; grandchildren, Erika, Eva, and Noel Malpaya, Joshua and Justin Bernardo, Christian Canave; Danika and Denise Hernandez, Angelo Morales, Ryan, Christine, and Matthew Malpaya and Emmanuel and Isabella Malpaya. She was preceded in death by her parents. Catalina was a loving wife, wonderful mother in raising her eight children and very caring for her 14 grandchildren. Her personal interest was the health and well-being of her grandchildren. A funeral will be held Wednesday, April 21, at 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.woodlawngroup.com.
