Portsmouth - On October 29, 2013, God called our loving Charlie "Charles" F. Jefferson, into eternal rest. Charles was born August 7, 1937 in Elkton, Kentucky to the late Rosell and Mary Bell Jefferson.
He joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country for 30 years, retiring as a Master Chief on June 1, 1985. He then worked with Earl Industries and later retired from there in 2010.
Charles was a devoted husband and father who cared deeply for his family and friends. Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 51 years, Edna Mae Jefferson, two daughters, Janet Jefferson and Cheryl Prince (Robert) of Portsmouth, Virginia; one son, Charles Jefferson of Portsmouth, Virginia; One brother, Edward Jefferson and one sister, Hallie Davis of Trenton, Kentucky; four grandchildren; Travis Jefferson, Alisha Prince, Keshara Carter and Damari Jefferson; two great-grandchildren, Ne'Kiyah Thompson and Aliyah Rydquist; two sisters-in-law, Edith Bell (Maurice) and Ida Mae Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 7, 12 noon at Corprew Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Corprew Funeral Home in charge.
