Clara Geiler

Clara J. M. Geiler VIRGINIA BEACH - Clara Johnson McConkey Geiler, 82, died at home Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, to be with the Lord. A native of Tarboro, N.C., she was a nurse and homemaker. She loved her church and singing in the choir, her family, and working in her yard. She was an avid member of the Red Hat Society. She was preceded in death by her three sisters and three brothers. Clara is survived by her three children and their spouses, Tom McConkey (Wanda) of Mullins, S.C., Gloria McConkey Burris Stauffer (Larry) of Richmond and Cheryl McConkey Boyd (Steve) of Virginia Beach; her grandchildren, Brandon McConkey of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Shannon Burris Guduk (Onur) of Virginia Beach, Kristi McConkey Kendall (Jeff) of Jacksonville, Fla., Amy Burris Snodgrass (Kirk) of Suffolk, Courtney Boyd of Virginia Beach and Craig Boyd of Virginia Beach and two great- grandchildren, Jacob and Kyleigh Kendall. She is also survived by her loving friend and companion, John Porterfield. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel today, Nov. 23, from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Atlantic Shores Baptist Church where she was a long-standing member, 1861 Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach.
