Claudia Gene Davenport|
Chesapeake - Claudia Gene Davenport, 63, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 25, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.
Born in Illinois, she was the second of five daughters born to the late Glenn and Madeleine Roberts. Claudia was a graduate of Old Dominion University. Her love of children directed her to her career of teaching "her little ones", as she called them. She wanted the best for each child. Other interests were her annual participation in the area's Polar Plunge for Special Olympics and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 36 years, Phil Davenport; her son, Brad Davenport; her daughter, Aimee Adams and husband Mason; sisters, Janice Diggs and husband George, Valerie Siviter and husband Terry, Odette Harris and husband Jimmy, and Renee Jones and husband Glenn. Claudia has many nieces and nephews, holding warm memories of years of special dinners with Uncle Phil in charge of the kitchen. There are many special friends who are extended family to Claudia and Phil. We must not forget to include Claudia's four legged companion, Captain Jack.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., March 1, 2013 at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home and Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. Father Brian Rafferty will officiate. The interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.
The viewing will begin on Thursday with the family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Claudia, you will always have a special place in our hearts. Your body grew weaker with time, but never your spirit. You have gone "Home" much earlier than anyone anticipated, however we will see you again on the other side.
