Clem Leo Garrett

Virginia Beach - Clem Leo Garrett, 75, passed away with his family by his side on March 31, 2014. He was born in Norfolk to the late Burt and Lizzie Garrett. He was also predeceased by five children including Clem Garrett, Jr., grandson, William Temple and one other grandchild who were all angels there to meet him. He was known as a hard-working man with a big heart who spent his life giving to help others. Clem had a passion for his work in construction building bridges and buildings, working his way up to project manager. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret Garrett; daughters, Anita Gale Chesson, Shelly Marie Justice, and Cindy Garrett-Compton; grandchildren, Dennis Temple, Jr., Barbara Ann McPherson, Garrett Compton and Tyler Compton; great-grandchildren, Hailie Justine McPherson and Mary Jade McPherson; sisters, Faye McIe and Ella Lewis; brother, Robert Garrett and numerous other family and friends.

The family will hold a time of remembrance at 2308 Court Circle, VA Beach, VA 23453 on Saturday, April 5, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Heritage United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 815 Baker Rd. Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
