Clyde Moore Obituary

Clyde T. Moore Sr. HAMPTON - Clyde T. Moore (Al-Amin Muhammad) Moore Sr., was born July 9, 1942 in Norfolk to Elizabeth Moore Eggleston and Willie Butler. He was the oldest of two children. Clyde was educated in the public schools of Norfolk. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he spend 13 years and retired at the rank of sergeant. He was affectionately call Sergeant Rock. For years, Clyde was a truck driver for Sandler Foods of Virginia Beach. He later joined the Maritime Union serving Local 1458 as a short-shoreman and later served the union in Local 1248 where he was a longshoreman. He served a total of 14 years. Clyde T. Moore Sr. was a business-minded man and for years he served the Park Place community in the Brothers of Peace Market. As an avid businessman, he was helpful to many individuals and families. Clyde accepted the Islamic religion and practiced the religion until his death. His legacy will live on through his family and many friends. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife whom he loved with all his heart, Mrs. Jacqueline P. Moore of Hampton; two sons, Clyde T. Moore Jr. and Damien Moore of Norfolk; one sister, Ms. Bernell Stuart of Jamaica Plains, Mass.; one brother, Johnny Parham (Susan) of Norfolk; a devoted sister- in-law, Yvonne Porter of Harlem, N.Y.; seven special daughters, Taslym, Raiysa, Dhakkiyya, Rukayya-nur, Badiya, Mariyam and Abiosseh Muhammad and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Prayers will be offered at noon Monday, Oct. 25, at Riddick Funeral Service by Imam Vernon Fareed. Burial will be in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk.

Though it has been years since I saw Clyde, I'm saddened at his passing. He was a caring soul and great family friend.
