Constance Hughes Obituary

Constance M. Hughes VIRGINIA BEACH - Constance M. Hughes, 44, of the 5400 block of Blue Knob Road, passed away Oct. 14, 2010 at her home. Connie was born Feb. 5, 1966 in Norfolk. She received a two-year certificate from Tidewater Community College where she remained on the dean's list every semester. Connie was a member of Basilica of St. Mary's of the Immaculate Conception where she was one of the founding members of the Inspirational Choir. She was also a member of the Sacremental Preparation Committee. She retired from the Norfolk Public School Board as an education support specialist. She was predeceased by her father, John V. Johnson Sr.; brother, John V. Johnson Jr.; and a sister, Venita T. Quiero. She is survived by her husband, Eddie A. Hughes; one daughter, Ryan S. Hughes; one son, Manuel N. Hughes (April); mother, Shirley J. Johnson; three sisters, Maria A. Parker (Johnnie), June V. Wright (Eric) and Andrea V. Johnson; two brothers, Robert L. Johnson and Harold L. Johnson; brother-in-law, Arcino Quiero; special nephew, Larry G. Johnson (Kenya); and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at noon Saturday in Basilica of St. Mary's of the Immaculate Conception, 232 Chapel St. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday in Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby St. Chapel. Condolences may be offered at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
