Portsmouth - Cynthia R. Hooker passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2012. She is the Daughter of Raymond C. Masters and the late Dora E. Masters.
She is survived by and the cherished wife of Martin D. Hooker; loving mother of, Jeffrey Hooker and his wife Wendy, Craig Hooker and his wife Elizabeth; grandchildren, Emaleigh, Kaelyn and Makayla Hooker; brothers, David Masters and his wife Karen, and Keith Masters; sister, Nancy Braaten and her husband Jack; and many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, caring friends and family. She was predeceased by a son, Anthony Hooker.
She was born in Syracuse, N.Y. and graduated from Mohawk Valley Community College and Tidewater Community College. She was a long time resident of Suffolk and Portsmouth, working at Children's Hospital of the Kings Daughters for many years. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Portsmouth, Va. where she was an active participant in the church circle. Her friends and family were her greatest joy. Memorial donations may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, 3312 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth, VA 23703 or to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5540 Falmouth St, Richmond VA 23230. The family will receive friends from 9:30 - 11 a.m., on Friday, February 17, at Centenary United Methodist Church, Portsmouth, VA. The Funeral Service will begin in the church at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. A reception will be held at the church following graveside services.
