David Ligon Obituary

David L. Ligon VIRGINIA BEACH - David L. Ligon, 63, passed away quietly in his sleep in the early hours of the morning on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010. His wife of 29 years, Linda, was at his side. He was a loving father to his daughter, Christina, his son, Christopher, and their spouses. He was a loving grandfather to his granddaughter, Tzipporah, and his grandson, Xander. David was a 24-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served two tours in Vietnam and retired with the rank of senior chief in 1988. In 1995 he joined the Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office after being an auxiliary deputy for four years. David retired from the sheriff's office in 2006 with line-of-duty injuries and the rank of corporal. He will be fondly remembered for his dedication to duty and his wonderful sense of humor by all who knew him and lovingly missed by his family and good friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 27, at 4 p.m. in the Virginia Beach Law Enforcement Training Academy, 401 Integrity Way, Virginia Beach. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.hdoliver.com.
