My wife and I just heard about Dennis' death yesterday, from a friend who worked with Dennis at the Ford Plant. We are extremely saddened by this news. Dennis "Meatball" was a dear friend to us and we will miss him very much. The world needs more people like Dennis and they should live to be old men, who sit around and tell stories of their youth to their grandchildren. He was taken by our Heavenly Father much too soon, but Dennis always seemed to be one step ahead of everyone else, anyway. He was a year ahead of me in our apprenticeship, he was working at Ford when I was hired there, and, now, he paves the way for us to be friends in eternity. I know that Dennis will be there to greet his many friends with open arms and his big smile.
One New Years Eve, Dennis called me about 9:00 PM and asked what Rheta and I were doing for New Years Eve. When I told him we were just staying home and not going out to celebrate, he showed up at my door a while later and we sat around and talked and brought in the new year watching TV. He was that kind of guy. I do not know anyone who ever said an unkind word about Meatball. He was a good friend and one who could be trusted to be there in time of need. Dennis will be missed by all who knew him, but we all have great stories to tell about the Meatball and how he touched our lives.
May God bless him and his family.
