Derlie Lewis James VIRGINIA BEACH - Our dear Mom, Derlie Lewis James, went home to be with her Lord and heavenly family Dec. 3, 2010. She leaves behind our Dad, Bob James; and three loving, devoted kids, Bobby James, June Delauney and Sharon Hwalek. Our folks had been married 63 years and despite the recent left and right jabs of life, they remained together to the very end. Our Mom was a true firecracker born and raised in Lowland, N.C., by her late parents, Jonah and Ollie Lewis. Her brothers, Marcus and Justin Lewis survive her as well as her feisty sister, Doris Riddle. Despite the sadness of her passing we praise the knowledge of her being now with her heavenly family, Thelma "Mae" Scheier and Letha "Tincy" Wooten and her very beloved granddaughter, Barb Chirles. A collector of many things, it would be hard to find a close match to her Beanie Baby collection which consumed a whole room in their Homestead home. She loved to bowl, have lunch with her girlfriends after the Rec center and dote on her grandkids, Chris Hwalek, Denise Holland, Micheal and Jimmy Heath and Barb Chirles. There was nothing Mom and Dad wouldn't do for those youngins. Generous by nature, she gave her time freely but close to her heart was her and our Dad's devoted years as volunteers for Meals on Wheels. They touched many lives outside their own family. Mom and Dad were longtime members of Providence Presbyterian Church and we thank the Church family for their support as well as friends and family, the staff at The Memory Center and especially Patrice Brown, their devoted caregiver. We were raised in a Godly home with giving parents. That's the greatest blessing anyone could wish for. Our Mom's memory will forever be carried forward with a host of family and friends. There will be a family visitation at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, 3600 Virginia Beach Blvd., Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. Burial will be private. A memorial service for our Mom will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to Meals on Wheels: 3750 Sentara Way, Virginia Beach, VA. 23452. Condolences may be offered to the family at
