Doris Sipe Obituary

Doris I. Sipe
Suffolk - Doris I. Sipe of the 2500 block of Indian Trail passed into the hands of our Lord, on November 7, 2011 at Sentara Obici Hospiatal. She had resided in Suffolk, Virginia for over 67 years and was known by many. She was employed with Magco, Inc. for over 27 years and was beloved by her co-workers and longtime friend Ron Davis. Known by many as Grandma, she was well known for her determination to work and admired for her ability to never give up.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Eugene (Peter) Spivey and Theodore (Chuck) Spivey; sisters, Gladys Butler and Ann Anderson. She is survived by her son, John (Moe) Spivey and wife, Peggy, of Suffolk; daughter, Betty Jean Rountree and her son Kirkman Rountree of Suffolk; and her sister, Lessie (Tinny) Fuquay of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by her six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was a mother, friend, and mentor to us all and will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, November 10, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, VA by the Rev. Mark Burns with burial at Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Wednesday, November 9, 2011 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made Women of the Moose, Chapter 1315, P.O. Box 4025, Suffolk, VA, 23439-4025, in the scholarship name of, Doris Sipe. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
