Edward E. Dowell, Sr.

Chesapeake - Edward "Eddie" Earl Dowell, Sr., 84, of Mary Ann Court passed away January 10, 2014. He was born in Meade Co., Kentucky to the late Grover and Marie Dowell; besides his parents he was predeceased by his sons, Edward Earl Dowell, Jr. and Kenneth Lee Dowell; and three sisters. Eddie served his country in the United States Navy; retired as a supervisor with the Boilermakers Union #45 where he served as a Past President; a member of Fairview Heights Baptist Church; Past Worshipful Master of Doric Masonic Lodge #44 AF & AM, the Chesapeake Shrine Club and a member of the Khedive Hillbillies Unit.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Shirley Lee Dowell; daughters, Donna Dowell Freeman and her husband, Lee; and Denise Dowell Hannan; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and a sister, Martha Shields and her husband, Dick.

A service to celebrate his life will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Fairview Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Fred Williams officiating. He will be laid to rest at Olive Branch Cemetery with military honors followed by Masonic rites. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home, Chesapeake on Monday, January 13, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to Shriners Childrens Hospitals.
