Henry Lindsley

Uncle Ed was always generous and kind to me. Whenever I could visit, he would take time out of his busy schedule and everywhere we went he'd introduce me to friends. One of those men who knew the name of the clerk at the store and the servers at the restaurant because he valued people.
I remember going to dinner and spilling cherry pie on my white shirt. I was embarrassed, but he calmly showed me how cold water could take out the stain.
I will miss him until we meet again and I thank the Lord for the time we had.

In 1996, I opend a small used book store in Virginia Beach. One day, this man came in and bought quite a few books. He did this every week. One day he came in and another customer spoke to him. After he left, she told me who he was.
Mr. Lindsley, a bibliophile and a shrewd bargainer, helped me to stay in business. He bought books and sent his friends to buy books.
I knew nothing about the controversy surrounding him, but I know that he was always a fine gentleman to me. I visited him several times when he was ill.
I moved away and lost contact, but I want his family to know how much he meant to me

I consider it an honor to have known Ed Lindsley. Even in his later years, he was a very wise man with a good sense of humor and a kind heart. I only hope that there are no title discrepancies up in heaven or Ed may end up owning half of it!

I would like to express my sincere simpathy to the family of Ed Lindsley. He was a very, very good friend of mine who helped me tremendously through the years. He will be missed by many.
