Eleanor Eckroade Obituary

Eleanor J. Eckroade VIRGINIA BEACH - Eleanor Jean Eckroade, 89, of Baylake Pines, died Thursday, June 10, 2010 after a long illness. She was born April 11, 1921 to Adam Zaremba and Philomena Adamska, both of Warsaw, Poland. She grew up in Yonkers, N.Y., where she married James Franklin Eckroade. In fall 1976, they moved to Virginia Beach from Novi, Mich., following Jim's retirement from CSX. They joined Bayside Presbyterian Church. Eleanor spent her life doing what she cherished most - being a loving mother and devoted wife. She is survived by her husband of 67 years; two daughters, Deidra Frances Hellwig and Dr. Virginia Ann Eckroade; one son, James Richard Eckroade; and a cherished grandson, Andrew Alexander-Griffith Eckroade. A funeral will be held Wednesday, June 16, at 11 a.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, with the Rev. George H. Fitzgerald officiating. A brief burial service will follow at Princess Anne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www. hollomon-brown.com.
