Elmer Downs Obituary

Elmer J. Downs NORFOLK - Elmer J. Downs, 89, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011 at his home after a long illness. He is survived by two sons, Stephen and Bill; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and his companion of 22 years, Ellen. He was predeceased by his wife, Alice; daughter, Dusty and many friends. He enjoyed puttering in his garage. He was a sculptor of steel, a true jack of all trades. Elmer was very warm and generous to his family. His character and his smile will be missed. The family is very grateful for the caring support of Senior-Corp and all friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation. A memorial service will conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, with the Rev. Dick Dinges officiating.
