Edenton, NC - Elsie Nixon Bunch, 104, formerly of 335 Evans-Bass Road, died Sunday, March 30, 2014 in The Edenton House.
Mrs. Bunch was born in Chowan County on January 16, 1910, and was the daughter of the late Henry Lucious and Martha Rebecca Harrell Nixon. A homemaker, she was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, the Zona Whiteman Sunday School Class, the Bertha Dale Circle, the Senior Choir, and the Gum Pond Home Demonstration Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ellie Clifton Bunch; an infant daughter, Beatrice Bunch; a granddaughter, Patricia Womble; sisters, Cora Harrell and Eva Chesson; brothers, Percy and Lloyd Nixon; and by sons-in-law, Carroll Perry, Sr. and Jack Leary.
Surviving are two daughters, Audrey Leary of Edenton and Glenda Parrish and husband Calvin of Richmond, Va; three sons, Jack Bunch and wife Clara of Mobile, Ala., Jimmie Bunch and wife Myrtle of Chesapeake, Va. and Wayne Bunch and wife Betty of Edenton; a sister, Pearl Sawyer of Norfolk, Va.; a brother, Carlton Nixon of Edenton; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church by Dr. James Horton, and the Revs. Clifton Bunch and Michael Jones. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at Wayne and Betty's home, 325 Evans-Bass Road, Edenton.
