Emmarene Brown

Emmarene Brown VIRGINIA BEACH - Emmarene Brown, 98, passed away peacefully June 13, 2010. Born Dec. 22, 1911, she was the last surviving member of her family of three brothers and four sisters. A Mississippi farm girl, she grew up and married Bee Wilson and had two daughters. After his untimely death, she dedicated herself to raising the girls. She spent years in the Fort Benning, Ga. chapter of the Eastern Star. Among her many roles in the organization, she was also Worthy Matron. She later married Raymond F. Brown and lived happily until his death from cancer. She served also as a Gold Star Wife and remained in Columbus, Ga., until moving to Virginia Beach in 1994. She is survived by both her daughters, Ruth E. Thuston and Jo Ann McNair, son-in- law, retired General Carl H. McNair; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They will always remember the vitality, generosity and wisdom that enabled her to live by herself and on her own terms until very recently.
