Erma Boone Obituary

Erma Boone NORFOLK - Erma "Nanna/Gramps" Saunders Boone, 87, of the 2600 block Corprew Ave. passed away July 3, 2010 at her residence surrounded by family. She was born Jan. 1, 1923 to the late Penny Leary Saunders and Silas Saunders in Robersonville, N.C. Erma was a member of St. Mark UCC, Berkley, where she was a member of the Prayer Band and the Nursing Unit for more than 40 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Leon Boone; two brothers, William H. Saunders and William H. Jones; and two sisters, Beulah Carney and Thelma Roberts. She is survived by six daughters, Beverly S. Lopez, Lore S. Speller (Bryant), Beulah Smith, Georgia Ball (Eugene), Brenda Lynch, Alice Harris (Derwin); two sons, William Saunders and Leon Boone Jr.; one sister, Alma L. Evans; one brother, Randolph A. Saunders; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at noon Friday in St. Mark UCC, 521 Obendorfer Road. The Rev. Thomas Hart will officiate. Interment will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 2630 Corprew Ave. one hour prior to the service for the procession to the church. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley Ave. Chapel. Condolences may be offered at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.

Granma, It doesn't seem like you are gone! I find myself laughing and giggling while driving down the road when I think about us dancing to the step song by R. Kelly... HeeHeeHee.... and when we would play on Wendy Williams and say, "How you doin'? Gosh I miss that. Or the time at my house when you got mad cause you wanted to go home right at that moment and we couldn't take you. You said, "I'm gonna walk home"! About 20 minutes later Aureel said " I thought you would be at the Campostella Bridge by now"! (giggling) You went on the porch and asked my neighbor to call you a cab and he said ok, then went in the house and called me!!! You were sooo mad at him, you didn't know what to do! I really do miss you... Dueces and we out!!!
