Evelyn Marcine "Buddy" Asire

Evelyn M. Asire VIRGINIA BEACH - Evelyn Marcine "Buddy" Asire, 91, passed away in her home Tuesday morning, May 26, 2009. Evelyn will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, whose cheery smile and laugh could brighten an entire room. She enjoyed her travels over the globe, including living in Ethiopia in her earlier years, as well as arranging flowers, hosting dinner parties and serving charitable groups. She was a part time resident of Birch Lake in Vandalia, Mich., during her summer months. Evelyn was also an active member of the Republican Women's Group and Nimmo and Virginia Beach United Methodist churches. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Bowe Asire. She is survived by her daughter, Martha Asire of Virginia Beach; son, Jeff Asire of Freeport, Texas; daughter, Nancy Asire of Kansas City, Mo. Her many grandchildren include, Brian and Patrick Asire, Brett Carey, Christopher and wife Brynn Carey and Erisa Carey of Virginia Beach; as well as many great-grandchildren. A remembrance service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Nimmo United Methodist Church, 2200 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23456. All friends of family are invited. Donations may be made, in lieu of flowers, to LALMBA (A Place for Hope), a non-profit humanitarian group which provides medical and orphan care in the poorest regions of Africa of which Evelyn and Jack were avid supporters.
