Faye Bass

Faye B. Bass VIRGINIA BEACH - Faye B. Bass, 72, lost her battle with cancer and passed away May 17, 2010 with her loving husband of almost 52 years by her side. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Sidney Bass; her daughters, Paula (Garry) Whitehurst of Virginia Beach and Alyse (Eric) Williams of Fuquay Varina, N.C.; and her son, Barry (Pam) Bass of Potomac, Md. She was a wonderful Bubby to her 10 grandchildren. Faye was born in Richmond, Va., Jan. 2, 1938. She moved to Baltimore, where she met her husband, Sidney Bass, and they started a family. They moved the family to the Hampton Roads area in 1968, where Faye started a successful Shaklee business, selling nutritional and all- natural cleaning products...she was definitely ahead of her time. She returned to college late in life, receiving a B.S. in food and nutrition from Norfolk State University in 1992 and was a candidate for a Ph.D. in nutrition from Virginia Tech University. Faye was an active member of Ohef Sholom Temple in Norfolk, where she was studying to become an adult Bat Mitzvah. A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, June 16, at 10 a.m. at Ohef Sholom Temple. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Torah Restoration Fund at Ohef Sholom Temple, 530 Raleigh Ave., Norfolk, VA 23507.
