Fleda Spencer Obituary

Fleda Peerman Spencer VIRGINIA BEACH - Fleda Peerman Spencer, 80, of the 2300 block of Trant Lake Drive, passed away May 9, 2010 in Virginia Beach after a three-year battle with cancer. A native of Altavista, Va., she was the daughter of the late William and Ruby Peerman. She was also preceded in death by her twin brother, Phillip C. Peerman. She was a charter member of Virginia Beach Christian Church where she taught Sunday school for 25 years and was a deaconess. She taught elementary education for 14 years in various areas including Norfolk Public Schools. She was a graduate of Lynchburg College. She was a very kind, loving, Christian woman who was devoted to her family. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 46 years, Francis R. "Frank" Spencer; three daughters, Beth Fischer and husband Tom, Tricia Bashor, and Kathy Perdue and husband Ron; four grandchildren, Lauren Fischer, Nathan Fischer, Sarah Perdue and Michael Bashor; two brothers, Robert Peerman and William H. "Jack" Peerman Jr. and wife Carollyn; sister-in-law, Anne Peerman; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at Virginia Beach Christian Church with Pastor Jason Lewis officiating. The burial will follow in Princess Anne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Virginia Beach Christian Church.
