Frances Holland Obituary

Marie Oliver Holland SUFFOLK - Frances Marie Oliver Holland, 88, formerly of Suffolk, died Sunday, May 9, 2010 in Chesapeake Health Care. Mrs. Holland was born in Nansemond County and was the daughter of the late Harvey and Fannie Woodard Oliver. She was the widow of Shem Julius Holland Sr., to whom she was married for 51 years. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Suffolk. Survivors include her three children, Shem Julius Holland Jr. and James Ryland "Buddy" Holland (Marsha), both of Suffolk, and Antionette H. Johnson (Richard) of Chesapeake; two grandchildren, Julie J. Holland Oakley of Poquoson and Melissa M. Gibson (Thom) of Mathews; four great-grandchildren, Chelsea D. Oakley and Malin R. Oakley of Poquoson, Zachary A. Gibson and Cora G. Gibson of Mathews; and her brother-in-law, Morris Holland of Suffolk. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 12, at 2 p.m. at Liberty Spring Christian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Allen Lancaster officiating. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Chesapeake Fire Department, Station 14, 304 Albemarle Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23322. Mrs. Holland's family wishes to express their appreciation to the entire staff of Chesapeake Health Care for their care and support.

As a child I grew up next door to Marie, "SJ", "Junior","Buddy "and Antionette. I will always have fond memories of Marie and her infectious laughter and love. Sorry to hear of her passing. God Bless.
