Frances Linville Obituary

Frances E. Wray Linville NORFOLK - Frances Elizabeth Wray Linville, 91, went to be with the Lord at her home Sunday, Nov. 21, 2010, surrounded by her loved ones. Frances had a genuine sweet spirit, and was always concerned about others. She had a big heart and was an amazing Christian example to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Marvin and her parents John and Effie Wray. She is survived by a son, Robert and wife Thata Linville of Norfolk; five daughters, Betty Greene of Chesapeake, Donna Wilson and husband Harry of Blue Ridge, Marlene Thompson and husband Don of Chesapeake, Effie Shaw and husband Doug of Herndon, and Brenda Van Dorn and husband J.P. of Virginia Beach; 17 grandchildren, Cynthia, Michael, Theresa, Alysia, Bradley, Rhonda, Brian, Tara, Amanda, Kyle, Rebecca, Taylor, Ali, Victoria, Selena, Harrison and Sherica; 23 great- grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, at noon Wednesday with Dr. Jim Wall officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 11 a.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Frances Linville to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, which she enjoyed for many years, at 6700 Azalea Garden Drive, Norfolk, VA 23518.
