Francis Harte Obituary

Francis A. Harte Jr. PORTSMOUTH - Francis "Frank" Aloysious Harte Jr., 91, of the 3400 block of Dogwood Drive, passed away June 25, 2010 in Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. A native of Savannah, Ga., he was the son of the late Annie Davis and Francis Harte Sr. He started as an apprentice shipfitter at Norfolk Naval Shipyard and retired as superintendent of Transportation. He also worked with Western Electric Bell Lab in Baltimore and Greensboro. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Quillin Harte; a daughter, Kathleen Bright and husband Martin of Portsmouth; three sons, Francis Harte III of Leander, Texas, Dennis Harte and wife Juanita of Morago, Calif., and Kerry Harte of Greensboro, N.C.; a grandson, Francis Harte IV of Plano, Texas; three granddaughters, Samantha Harte of Austin, Texas and Kimberly and Christian of Plano and a great-grandson, Brendan Harte of Plano. He was predeceased by a daughter- in-law, Katsura Harte and a grandson, Bret Harte. A memorial service will be held at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church at a later date. Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com.
