Virginia Beach - Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him, Franklin Dandridge Tuck died peacefully on December 13, 2013 at Sentara Virginia Beach Hospital at age 82.
A Richmond native, 3rd generation direct descendant of Patrick Henry and nephew of Governor William M. Tuck, he was previously a longtime resident of Richmond and Darien, Conn. before moving to Virginia Beach 17 years ago.
He is survived by wife Pauline (Polly) Speights Tuck; sister Mary Tuck Echols of Staunton, Va.; daughter Harriet Tuck Snyder and husband John H. Snyder of Bernardsville, N.J.; son Franklin Scott Tuck and wife Laurie S. Tuck of Darien, Conn.; niece Alison B. Hetzer and husband John R. Hetzer of Richmond; grandsons Scott H. Snyder and Frederick Scott (Scotty) Tuck; granddaughters Meredith T. Snyder, Clare D. Tuck, Paige J. Tuck and Caroline A. Snyder; and nephews Robert Echols, John Echols and John A. Hetzer.
Frank Tuck attended the Virginia Military Institute and graduated from the University of Richmond as a member of Phi Gamma Delta.
As an entrepreneur, salesman and manager, he founded multiple businesses and was highly appreciated and respected within the dental industry across a career spanning 44 years.
He was a member of the Rotary Club, the Sons of the American Revolution, Descendants of Patrick Henry, the Galilee Episcopal Church and the Princess Anne Country Club.
The family is grateful to his longtime physician Dr. Gregory A. Warth for the truly special care he provided.
