Smithfield - Fred Eugene Barb, 73, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013 at Riverside Regional Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Delma Barb.
Fred attended Living Hope Community Fellowship in Windsor. He served 7 years in the National Guard. Fred was a member of the Isle of Wight Ruritan Club, President of the Romeo Club (Real Old Men Eating Out), and also worked with the American Military Missions preparing and shipping packages to our service men and women. He retired after nearly 40 years as a nuclear inspector with Newport News Shipbuilding. Fred was owner of Fred E. Barb, Electrical & Refrigeration for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Jones Barb; his son, Greg Barb and wife, Paula and grandchildren, Taylor and Landon.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29 at Colonial Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, October 30, in St. Luke's Memorial Park with the Rev. Kevin Payne officiating. At other times the family will be at the home of Pat Manix, 402 Moonefield Drive, Smithfield.
