Norfolk - Glondese Kelley Howard, 80, of Springfield, Virginia passed away suddenly on Monday, August 19, 2013 in Norfolk. She was born on April 15, 1933 to the late Russell V. Kelley, Sr. and Fannie Armfield Kelley. Glondese was predeceased by her husband James W. Howard, a musician in the U.S. Navy and two brothers Eugene Kelley and William Kelley.
Glondese was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia State College in Petersburg. She was a retired educator who taught for well over 35 years in the Arlington Public School System.
Glondese was devoted to her family. Left to cherish her memory are her two children John Perry of Elk Grove, CA; and Yvonne Moten who lives in Northern Virginia; two grandchildren, Valerie and Vincent Moten and their father, Walter Moten (Springfield, VA); three great grandchildren, Malia, Kaley and Cory; five siblings, Dr. Russell V. Kelley (State Senator Delores) of Randallstown, Md; Lorraine K. Flood (Leon) of Norfolk; Lillian K. Pierce (Willie) of Chesapeake; Denise K. Vice (Nathan) of Midlothian; and Darryl A. Kelley, Esq. (Evelyn) of Ft. Washington, Md.; and a host of devoted family members including nieces, nephews and cousins.
The homegoing service for Glondese will be held Tuesday, August 27, at 11 a.m. at Hale Funeral Home. Burial will be held, at a later date, in Arlington Cemetery. www.halefuneralhome.com
