Hubert Scott Obituary

Hubert L. Scott Jr. SUFFOLK - Hubert Lloyd Scott, Jr., 85, of Thaxton, Va., passed away Nov. 14, 2010. He was born in Lexington, Va., the son of the late Clara Virginia Lam Scott and Hubert Lloyd Scott Sr. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Isabelle Fix Scott. Hubert was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II and was a D-Day survivor. He later went on to serve as a manager for 40 years for the Southern States Corporation. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Thaxton. Hubert is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Patti S. and Ray M. Winslow of Suffolk, Linda S. and Richard A. Babb of Goldsboro, N.C.; grandchildren, Jason Winslow and his wife Nicole, Josh Winslow, Paige Babb, Karen Babb; great-grandchildren, Jayden and Peyton; special neighbor and friend, Linda Clifford. A funeral will be held Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk with the Rev. John Bright and the Rev. Joe Shoop officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at 4:30 p.m. at Timberidge Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Lexington, Va. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence of Patti and Ray Winslow. Memorial donations may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church at 4144 W. Lynchburg Salem Turnpike, Thaxton, VA 24174. Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Linda Beahm and the nursing staff at Oakwood Manor and Bedford Memorial Hospital.
