Inez Joyner Obituary

Inez Sessoms Joyner NORFOLK - Inez Sessoms Joyner, 85, of the 6500 block of Whitehorn Drive, died April 24, 2010 at her home. Born in Wilson, N.C., she retired after 20 years of service with the city of Norfolk Department of Social Services. Mrs. Joyner was a devoted member of Freedom COGIC, Norfolk. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Earnest L. Joyner Sr.; parents, Haywood and Maggie Sessoms; five sisters and four brothers. She is survived by three sons, Earnest L. Joyner Jr. and Carlton E. Joyner Sr., both of Norfolk, and Dennis S. Joyner (Doreatha) of Virginia Beach; one stepdaughter, Roberta Cooper of Portsmouth; grand children, Derria of Ashburn, Va., Robin, Carlton Jr. (Chonita), Earnest III, all of Norfolk, Yolanda (Seth) of Portsmouth, Michael and Monroe, both of Virginia Beach; a special niece, Mattie B. Wilkins of Norfolk; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Mason Memorial COGIC, Norfolk, by Pastor Aaron Robbins and Bishop David Williams. Interment will be at Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. Viewing will be held today at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby Chapel. Condolences may be offered at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
